Cependant,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news-room\/detail\/12-07-2017-2-1-billion-people-lack-safe-drinking-water-at-home-more-than-twice-as-many-lack-safe-sanitation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> plus d\u2019un sixi\u00e8me de la population mondiale, principalement dans les pays en d\u00e9veloppement, n\u2019a pas un acc\u00e8s fiable \u00e0 cette eau<\/a>. Les clients se plaignent aupr\u00e8s des entreprises d\u2019eau potable au sujet d\u2019incidents comme le go\u00fbt, l\u2019odeur, la couleur, la boue, la basse pression et l\u2019absence d\u2019approvisionnement en eau. Au Royaume-Uni, on estime qu\u2019un tiers de toutes les plaintes des clients concernant l\u2019eau potable sont li\u00e9es \u00e0 la d\u00e9coloration de l\u2019eau (Cook et coll., 2005). Ces plaintes minent consid\u00e9rablement la confiance des clients dans les compagnies d\u2019eau.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=\u00a0\u00bb.vc_custom_1593484138974{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}\u00a0\u00bb]Iron and Manganese contamination of water have long been considered to only lead to aesthetic problems, in that they are secondary contaminants that have little or no adverse health effects. However, research conducted by Wasserman et al. (2006) indicated a relationship between increased Mn concentrations in drinking water and reduced intellectual functions of children. Increased levels of Iron and Manganese concentrations have been found to be the main cause of drinking water discolouration (Slaats, 2002). Furthermore, discoloured water could also lead to coloured stains on laundries and sinks, increased treatment costs, reduced treatment capacity and increased pumping costs. Water with high concentrations of Iron and Manganese has been found to give water an unpleasant metallic taste and vegetables cooked with it become dark and look unappetizing (Herman, 1996).<\/p>\n<p>High Iron and Manganese levels can lead to non-compliance with drinking water regulations. The drinking water standard for most jurisdictions for iron is 0.3 milligrams per liter (mg\/l), and the standard for manganese is 0.05 mg\/l respectively. The quality of water changes as it travels from source to consumers in Water Distribution Networks (\u2018WDNs\u2019). Although water companies generally set post-treatment targets of Fe and Mn to about 3% of their respective MCLs, low concentrations of Fe and Mn still enter the network and gradually accumulate on pipe walls within WDNs. Given the wrong conditions, such as high flows created by a water main burst or high diurnal consumption of drinking water, these accumulated particles may subsequently lead to water discolouration and end up in customers\u2019 taps.<\/p>\n<p>In order to begin the process of oxidation of the iron (and manganese) in solution DMI-65\u00ae is designed to operate in the presence of chlorine or other oxidants. In this process the oxidant removes electrons and is consumed in<\/p>\n<p>the process. The operator needs to ensure that there is a 0.1 \u2013 0.3 ppm free chlorine residual in the effluent water. Chlorine, fed as sodium hypochlorite or bleach (12.5% NaOCl), is the preferred oxidant since it is relatively inexpensive, readily available around the world and it is effective. It also performs the vast majority of any disinfectant process.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike ion exchange resins where higher regenerant dosages will increase the ion exchange capacity, NaOCl residuals or concentrations higher than required to oxidize the Iron and Manganese do not increase the oxidative properties of the media. Additionally, since the media is often used to pretreat waters prior to an RO system a higher free chlorine residual would require more extensive post treatment to reduce the residual and protect the membranes from chlorine attack.<\/p>\n<p>DMI-65\u00ae has been certified to the <a href=\"http:\/\/dmi65.com\/fr\/technique\/certification-qualite-de-leau\/\">US Standard of NSF\/ANSI 61 for Drinking Water System Components<\/a> and for use in England and Wales Under Regulation 31(4)(a) of the water supply (Water Quality) regulations 2010 and has also been tested by many other <a href=\"http:\/\/dmi65.com\/fr\/technique\/tests-de-laboratoire\/\">water treatment authorities and laboratories<\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=\u00a0\u00bb20px\u00a0\u00bb]<blockquote class=\"text-big shortcode-blockquote block-style-widget\"><p>George Municipal Water Works, Afrique du Sud, utilise plus de 550 tonnes m\u00e9triques de DMI-65\u00ae. L\u2019eau George est tr\u00e8s color\u00e9e contenant des acides humiques et fulvic &#8211; la couleur brute de l\u2019eau est approximative. 800 unit\u00e9s de couleur PtCo. Le fer r\u00e9siduel le plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 trouv\u00e9 \u00e9tait de 0,01 mg\/L. L\u2019enl\u00e8vement du mangan\u00e8se est \u00e9galement tr\u00e8s efficace. Le mangan\u00e8se restant le plus \u00e9lev\u00e9 trouv\u00e9 \u00e9tait 0.06 mg\/l Mn est mieux enlev\u00e9 au pH 8 plus \u00e9lev\u00e9. L\u2019avantage suppl\u00e9mentaire de l\u2019enl\u00e8vement de l\u2019aluminium, m\u00eame au pH sup\u00e9rieur. La turbidit\u00e9 la plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e enregistr\u00e9e \u00e9tait 0,06 NTU. Selon nos tests de laboratoire, la couleur la plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e \u00e9tait de 4 mg\/l PtCo, mais la plupart du temps la couleur \u00e9tait inf\u00e9rieure \u00e0 la couleur de l\u2019eau distill\u00e9e achet\u00e9e dans une pharmacie de George. L\u2019usine fonctionne depuis le d\u00e9but de janvier 2007 et continue d\u2019avoir d\u2019excellents r\u00e9sultats.
